Corona Cookies Diary15.3-23.10.2020
A cookie is a small piece of data sent by a server to a browser, allowing a website to remember information or record activity. A cookie is also just a cookie.
During the first lockdown, beginning on March 15, 2020, I made a daily butter cookie topped with fondant and posted it to Instagram Stories. Each one carried a record of my inner world into an isolated world, like a message in a bottle.
The repetitive rituals of baking, decorating and posting became a way to mark time and remain connected during self-isolation and social distancing. Designed to disappear after twenty-four hours online, the cookies formed a personal diary of confinement, uncertainty, and everyday life through a fragile, ephemeral medium.
